Children's Privacy Notice

Version 2026-07-20 · Effective 2026-07-20

This notice is for parents and legal guardians. It describes, in the detail required by the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), how Tellasaurus ("Tellasaurus," "we," "us") collects, uses, and discloses personal information from children under 13 — and the rights you have over that information. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

Tellasaurus is built so that children never hold their own accounts: an adult creates the account, attests that they are the child's parent or legal guardian, and creates a profile for each child. Everything a child does in Tellasaurus happens inside that parent-held account.

1. What we collect from children

  • A profile name (we recommend a first name or nickname) and creative settings chosen for the profile, such as reading level and art style.
  • The creative content the child produces while playing: typed brainstorm chat messages, and the characters, places, and story ideas in them. Tellasaurus has no voice input and does not collect voice recordings.
  • We do NOT knowingly collect from a child: full name, home address, email address, phone number, precise location, or photos of the child. Our AI assistant is explicitly instructed never to ask a child for personal information and never to suggest contact outside the app. Photo uploads (for turning a pet, toy, or drawing into a character) are a parent-account feature; by uploading a photo that includes a child, the account holder consents to its use for character generation.

2. How we use children's information

Children's information is used only to provide the Service: generating the stories, characters, maps, and narration the child asks for; keeping their creative world persistent between visits; and enforcing our safety rules. Chat and scene text is processed by our AI providers (Anthropic for text, Google for images, ElevenLabs for narration) solely to produce the requested result; under our agreements, that content is not used to train their models.

We do not use children's personal information for marketing, advertising, or profiling, we do not sell it, and we do not permit children to make their content public — sharing is controlled entirely by the parent account.

3. Parental consent

We obtain consent from the parent or legal guardian at account creation: the account holder must be 18 or older, must attest that they are the parent or legal guardian of each child who will use the account, and must accept the Terms of Service and this notice before the account can be created. The Service records the version and time of that acceptance.

If we materially expand what we collect from children, we will obtain fresh parental consent before the new collection begins.

4. Your rights as a parent

  • Review: you can see everything your child creates directly in the app — every character, story, and chat lives in your account.
  • Delete: you can delete any character, story, or kid profile in the app, or delete the whole account in settings. You may also email us to request deletion of your child's information.
  • Refuse further collection: you can stop all further collection at any time by removing the child's profile or deleting the account.

To exercise any of these rights, or to ask questions, contact us at support@tellasaurus.com. We will verify that you are the account holder before acting on a request.

5. Disclosure

We disclose children's information only to the service providers (processors) needed to run Tellasaurus — our AI, hosting, storage, and infrastructure providers listed in the Privacy Policy — each bound to use it only on our behalf. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect the safety of a child.

6. Changes and contact

If we materially change how we collect or use children's information, we will notify account holders and obtain new consent where the law requires it.
